Random

This is an entry from one of my old blogs from another site. It's from June 2009.

Hello there boys & girls...welcome to the "my computer is trying to go tits-up on me" show!
I only have to put up with my boss for 2 more days!! He’s a 6 ft. penis with feet! He’s moving to N. Carolina to go back to school. Cool! Now he’s their problem. Ha! I dig the new Volcano burrito at Taco Hell. Yummmm. Look, a squirrel... Every time you masturbate...you kill a kitten. Sorry kitty...my bad! Wouldn’t it be great to have a solar powered cell phone? How come italic letters lean to the right? The moon looked so cool on the way up to work this morning. Last month marked my 5th year on the Big Island! Wow! Time was invented by Timex. Next month is my one year anniversary with CSU and CEMML. Awesome! The Blue Whale can swim 20 mph and averages 80 feet in length. Doves can not breath underwater. People are naked under their clothes. Random thoughts look really cool on paper.

Sounds through the window

The sounds through the window of my room.
The sound of the Fire and Rescue truck, sirens blaring over the volume on the television, roar past the building.
Children playing at the park across the street.  Three, no four of them.
A gaggle of geese fly over head.  Chatting as they head towards the pond at the park near the golf course.
Cars cruise by.  Different makes, models, sizes.
Couci Frogs serenade mates for the chance of a quicky in the coconut tree.
Rain drops tap out a tune on the metal roof.
A gecko barks to signify its kill of a nice juicy bug for its meal.
Singing drifting down the street from a karaoke bar a few block away.
Not just sounds through the window.
Life through the window.

Friends

A relaxing day.  Releasing the stress from the workweek.  Listening to the rain making it's own music on the metal roof while I listen to music of a different kind on the internet.

Just finished chatting with a friend from my past.  Good memories.  Friends help keep you grounded.  They remind us of who we are and why we are.  It's not the quantity of the friends, but the quality that matters.  Some people just don't get that.  They don't even have to be physically close to you to have a great impact your life.  As long as you can communicate with each other, you can influence each other's life.  Feeling.  Outlook.  Focus.  Reflection.

A Dry Spell

This image was taken January 2011. It is the true summit of Mauna Kea, the highest point in the Pacific Ocean, on the Big Island of Hawaii. It stands majestically above the ocean at over 13,700 ft. above sea level. From it's actual base, at the bottom of the ocean, it stands at over 33,000 ft.

As an artist; I have found myself in a dry and dark place.  A place that I actually don't want to be in. It's like having writer's block.  I look at other artist's works, many of whom are friends of mine, and I suddenly feel inadequate. I used to feel an almost mystical connection with my camera. We were as one.  Energy flowing between the two of us. Like the connection between a massage therapist and their client. Chi. Mana.

I will continue to find my way back to my place behind the camera.  For the time being, I still have the power of the written word and the power of free thought.  My best friend is quite the advocate for the power of words and the thoughts and feelings that they can evoke.  Dude, you rock!  Mahalo brah.

Random Thoughts

I heard church bells for the first time since I moved in.  Strange.  Neighbor girl, down stairs, chatting on her cell phone.  Not so strange.  Grey and gloomy this morning.  A little on the coolish side.  Still I don't want to put any clothes on.  One of the joys of living alone.  A pause from the keyboard.  Warm the hands holding a cup of coffee.  Starbucks instant.  Go figure.

My photography is in hurting status right now.  Dry spell.  No creativity.  No drive.  Maybe it's a sign to write more.  Plenty of thoughts running around in my head, but no sense of organization.  I feel the need to spend a day or two trying to organize my photos on my new computer, but I also feel the need to get out and do something.  Create something.  Because of this, I do neither.  Depression.  Guilt.  Self-pitty.

There is my answer.  Eat breakfast, shower and grab my camera.  Go out and use this dark time to create.  Use it instead of just letting it sit and consume my life.  We shall see what comes of it.

Things change...go with it.  Aloha.

Baby steps

This is the first of many. My best friend got me involved with keeping an online journal of my adventures on this amazing ride called life. The journaling began about 8 years ago in both published and unpublished versions.

I learned a painful, but needed lesson when my computer, on which I had been keeping my unpublished journal, caught a virus and died. I lost all of my entries to this date. Now I have a new computer and I have decided to go back to the old school way of journaling in a handwritten version in conjunction with the online version.

I decided to do the handwritten version for two reasons. The first being the best way to protect my entries from any kind of computer virus. Secondly, it's a great way for me to re-learn how to write script again. You know, like we used to do when we were in grade school; with a pencil or pen and a piece of paper. A talent that the newer generations are losing at an alarming rate.

Well, I guess that will do for now. Til next time...
